Goals for 2018

Hey everyone! This year has gone by fast, and 2018 will be here soon. With the year ending it is that time again to see how you did on completing your goals from this past year and to set up new goals for the coming year.

This past year I only had two goals. One was to take more risks throughout the year. The second was to read 12 books. I completed the taking more risks goal, and was able to get out of my comfort zone by socializing more! This past year I started dating again for the first time since ending my engagement, and it definitely was not as bad as I had convinced myself it would be. I am sure the fact that the guy is one of the nicest guys there is helped a lot too! As far as my goal to read 12 books, I am still working on that. I read 11 books, so far, and am hoping to finish that last one tomorrow.

I already know what my goals are for next year, and I am excited to complete those! My goals for next year are;

  1. To read 12 books, and also under that complete my 2018 reading challenge!
  2. To run 2 5k’s
  3. To eat healthier for at least 1 meal a day
  4. To grow my lipsense business
  5. Save at least $150 per month
  6. To pay off any debt that I have
  7. Complete an item off my bucket list each month
  8. To pass my school classes

I do have quite a bit of goals this year, but I do plan on achieving them all! What are some of your goals for the New Year? Let me know in the comments below!

The 5 Love Languages

Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about the 5 love languages. Recently I have been hearing a lot about the 5 love languages. I took the test and I am going to share my results with you along with a little on each category.

The five love languages are; physical touch, quality time, words of affirmation, receiving gifts, and acts of service. The test is free for anyone to take online. After taking the test you will see the different love languages rated in order from your highest to lowest score. The highest score you can get on each category is 12. After getting your results you can read the book, The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Chapman. Dr. Chapman’s book goes into more detail on what each category entails.

The first love language I am going to talk about is physical touch. People whose primary love language is physical touch are not very touchy. However, hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face go a long way. For those who score highest in this category physical presence and accessibility is crucial. I got a score of 8 in this category, making it my primary love language.

The second love language is quality time. Those who have this as their primary love language thrive in a relationship where there is full, undivided attention given. For those who strive on quality time things such as distractions, postponed dates, and failure to listen can really be hurtful. I got a 7 in the quality time section. For me, I love when I can just spend time with whoever I am dating. This could be doing something as simple as watching a movie at home.

The third love language I am going to touch on is word of affirmation.  Those who score high in this area really value words. Compliments mean the world to them. Hearing the words, “I love you” are important but hearing the reasons why will really raise their spirts. I received a 7 in words of affirmation, making it my second love language too.

The fourth love language is receiving gifts. Those who score the highest in this area do not care about how much is spent; they care about the thought behind the gift. I scored a 6 for this love language. An example of this was when my ex-fiancé brought me sunflowers he found in a field on his way back to Arizona. He knew that sunflowers are my favorite so he grabbed some. He did not spend a cent, but the fact he saw them and thought of me meant the world to me.

The fifth and last love language is acts of service. Something like vacuuming the floor can mean the world to those who have this as their primary love language. Anything to ease the burden goes a long way!

This is just a little about the five love languages. To learn more about your primary love language by reading Dr. Chapman’s book. I will leave a link to the quiz and book below! Have you taken the quiz? Let me know your love language in the comments below!

Small Break

Hey everyone! Today for silly Saturday I am going to talk about why I have not been posting the past couple weeks.

I have been so busy with school lately. The end of the semester has been hectic, while I was desperately trying to bring my grade up. Unfortunately I was unable to do so, and will have to retake the class.

Another thing I have been super busy with is babysitting. It is a super busy season for me, and I have had multiple jobs every weekend. With that came the rush to figure out a few activities and gifts for the kids I watch. I decided to make gifts for the kids this year, which has definitely added to my schedule!

The past couple weeks have been so crazy, that by the time I was done with everything and home I was exhausted. I kept telling myself that I would skip one night and post twice the next day. Well, I did not do that! Now that I am on break from school I do plan on posting daily.

I hope you all have a wonderful night!

Studying for School

Hey everyone! I am typing up this post from my phone as I am babysitting a group of kids. This is going to be a relatively short post for that reason. With all that being said I want to talk about my studying habits for school!

I am a huge fan of rewriting my notes. I will write everything in different colors. I do this for every class, and I feel like it has been working for the most part! After I rewrite them I will go back and re read them a few times to really lock things in.

Another thing I will do when studying is make flash cards and go over them whenever I get the chance to. I will put the flash cards in my purse and take them out whenever I have time to look through them. This also helps me to memorize everything!

I really only do those two things and they work out well for me usually! What are some of your studying techniques? Let me know in the comments below.

Update On Other Posts

Hey everybody! Today for Silly Saturday I thought I would do a quick update on things I mentioned in other posts. I said I would get back to you all about the Ben and Ashely I podcast and about Thanksgiving Day treat ideas!

On Tuesday I shared a couple treat ideas for Thanksgiving, and told you I would make them and post them on Instagram. Long story short I did not make the treats I mentioned. While I stand by my statement of them being super easy to make and it honestly would not have taken that long to do I decided not to make them. I would however love to know if any of you made them or about what treats you made for Thanksgiving!

For Friday Favorites I posted about my favorite podcasts and told you that I had just began listening to Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast. I finished the episode I was listening to today plus two more after that! When I opened the app today I saw that I had only had six minutes left in last night’s episode. I can honestly say I love this podcast. It was so easy to get into! I found myself driving around just so I could finish each episode. It is definitely worth listening to!

Today’s post was short, but I did want to do an update on everything! Have you guys listened to any of the podcasts I mentioned? Have you made any of the Thanksgiving treats? Let me know in the comments below!

Tone it Up Products

Hey everyone! This week I am going to be talking about some of my favorite health products, the Tone it Up products! For those of you who do not know, Tone it Up is a health and fitness company run by Karena and Katrina. They have many health products along with fitness products.
One of the things I love about Tone it up is that they post workouts on YouTube. It is such a great thing for those who want a great workout, but cannot buy the DVD’s they offer. These workouts are great for beginners, and they use equipment that is accessible to everyone, whether you get it at your local Wal-Mart or from the tone it up website. Karena and Katrina also will give alternatives to certain equipment if you do not or cannot purchase what they are using. I work out to their videos at least 3 times a week!
Another great thing that Tone it Up offers is nutrition products. They offer nutrition plans, protein mix, and protein bars. My favorite thing about the protein mix and bars is that they are sold at Target! They offer two flavors of protein bars, blueberry coconut and chocolate peanut butter. I buy the blueberry coconut, and cannot get enough of them! It is a super easy breakfast, just grab and go! The protein powder is also offered in two different flavors, chocolate and vanilla. My favorite is the chocolate! With that being said I am very picky about what protein powder I use. I do not like the taste of most brands, but Tone it Up protein powder is fantastic! They also offer limited edition protein powders. The latest one was coconut, but unfortunately it is all sold out. That does go to show how great the powder is though! Another thing that is offered is organic tea. They offer a morning tea to help get your day going, and a night time tea to help end your day. The tea was the first product I bought. It is definitely a must have!
The last thing I wanted to talk about is the Tone it Up app. You can find it in the app store under Studio Tone it Up: Workouts. The app really is such a great resource. You can find daily workouts you can do throughout the day. If you do not like the workout they have planned for that day you can go through the videos they offer through the app.
Tone it Up is a great company and I highly recommend it to everyone! You will get so much out of the workouts and feel great after! I know you will love it! Have you tried any of their products? Tell me in the comments below!
